Beginning July 30, 2012, the City of Chicago will implement the second phase of the grid garbage collection system in the 41st Ward. By using a grid garbage collection system, the Chicago Department of Streets & Sanitation will increase service efficiency and crew productivity to provide the best possible service to residents. These proposed changes will also save taxpayers $20 million.
